Game Preview: Arlanda Jets vs Limhamn Griffins
Saturday at 13.00 on the new field in Arlanda, a Superseries match will take place. This will not be a game to see who might win the regular season but more so who may play CC and who may play SMM in the Semi-finals. Facts that I am sure CC or SMM are not at all concerned about.
If we can win this match by more than 14 points AND win in Jamtland next week, then we would end up in 3rd place and probably have to travel to Solstaden and take on the Crusaders, while Limhamn will take on Stockholm. If we win the game by less than 14, that would mean that LG would be 3rd seed and we would be 4th seed AS LONG AS we win against Jamtland the next weekend. I must say that it is nice to see some “what if’s” concerning a 5 team league that it takes from the first weekend in May until the 2nd weekend in September to play 8 regular season games and 2 play-off games.
On Offense this week we need to concentrate getting into the endzone. Last two weeks ago we were able to run up 405 yards of total offense on 79 plays and had 0 turnovers against a very good CC defense. The problem was we were unable to score more than 20 points. We completed exactly 50% of our passes, which must be better to take the next step. We have worked hard this week and are healthy on the offense. We are able to have Björn Strandberg back with us for this game and that will allow Kristoffer Blanck to concentrate solely on Defense. We will rely on both the option game and the pass game to move the ball against the Griffins and will look to control the clock by getting first downs, finishing every drive with points and as a minimum, putting LG in very difficult field position.
On Defense we will try to limit an explosive Limhamn offense. With playmakers on all positions headed by QB Mitch Tanney it will be a hard fought battle, but one that we have prepared to handle. As of lately the face of Limhamns offense has changed and we are not really sure what we will see. There will probably be a little bit of everything to test our defense ability to adjust. Practice this week has been good and we have a chip on our shoulder from the beating in Carlstad two weeks ago.
On a personal note: I would like to thank Coach Oud and Coach Hill for taking the responsibility of running the team in my long absence. I can say and am proud to say that Samuel Gustav William Kennedy was “utskriven” on July 31st and is home and all is normal….or at least as normal as it can be with all the diapers and “stuff”. Samuel looks forward to watching his first football game this weekend and meeting the Jets!!
