Arlanda Jets vs Göteborg Marvels
This week the Jets find themselves in another important game. The winner of this game will finish third in the final standings and the loser will finish 4th. What is at stake is either a trip to Solstaden to play the Crusaders in the semi-finals on the 20th of August or a trip to Stockholm to play the Mean Machines in the semis on the 27th of August. So, win or lose, the prize is a hand-full, but no doubt both teams will be fired up and ready to play on Saturday.
The last time the Jest and Marvels met, it was a wild offensive game. Each team put up points almost at will, and had great individual performances from offensive players. The Jets are coming off a win over the Carlstad Crusaders in which the offense clicked pretty good with Micke Öhman seemingly finding his way to make yardage on the ground while, Gonzalez and company continued to hook up through the air. That is what the Jets offense will need to do against the Marvels. We will need to control the tempo of the game, move the chains and score points.
On defense, Arlanda played a good game against the Crusaders. The only problem was the big play. The Crusaders were able to connect on 4 fades throughout the course of the game. In the previous game against the Marvels it was big plays that haunted our defense. Our goal is to eliminate the big play potential of GBG. A task that is easier to write than to execute. Big Jermaine Smith played a good game in is first game on Swedish soil since 2003. Now that he has been here and practicing and has a game under his belt, we expect him to boost the performance of the defense and help lead the Jets D in the final regular season game and on into the play-offs.
All in all, it should be a very good game played by two teams that are just trying to find their way to the SM-Final in 2005.
