Preview for Arlanda Jets vs. Jamtland Republicans
Game day: 5/6 Game time: 15.00 Game Place: Pinbacken IP
Comments from last weeks game vs. SMM:
OUCH!! We were very disappointed in our play versus the Stockholm Mean Machine. That is to take nothing away from their game. They played a very solid game in all aspects and we were very average at best. We showed glimpses of a team that could compete but all in all, at least this time, we could not keep up with the Mean Machine. On offense, we could not convert on 3rd down and due to a solid run defense and excellent coverage in the secondary. We did put together 1 very good drive to open the second half, but it was too little too late. We will re-group and move on and meet Stockholm in a key match up the Sunday of midsummer weekend. I guess there weren’t enough weekends in July, so we have to play during the midsummer holiday.
Preview for Arlanda Jets vs. Jamtland Republicans:
The last time we played Jamtland, it was the first game that we put together a solid offensive and defensive performance. We will try to do the same this game. On offense we will continue to work our passing game and hopefully begin to execute consistently. We did a good job picking up the Jamtland blitz in the last game and we have worked a lot against the blitz this week in practice so hopefully it will pay off. Our running back crew will be at full force this week, led by Johan Winberg and Micke Öhman. The O-line has been playing well. This year to date we have attempted 121 passes in 4 games and only given up one sack on the year. We need to simply increase our percentage of completions, which is at 44% now.
On defense we are regrouping after a tough day against Oscar Dahlman and company. We are an aggressive defense and we will send the house and cover tight. We must get more pressure on the QB when we do this. Anytime you send 5 or more, somebody has to get through. The D-line is coming together. Big Mats Rüdén made his debut game against Stockholm Mean Machines and the same can be said of Janne Ronkainen. Daniel Lundqvist is back and that should help keep some of our OL from having to go both ways so often. In the secondary, Antti Stenroos is back from school and ready to help us out. Due to injury linebacker Andreas Öström is out until after the summer break. To fill that spot will be Jesper Hesselgren and, back from the army, Soran Barzanje.
Team Notes:
We just put on our school tournament yesterday and I must say it was a tremendous site to see 60 players from 4 different schools play in this tournament. We had great cooperation from the schools and at kick-off at 12.00 for the first game there was not one empty seat in the bleachers and the crowd spilled off both sides. Each school had their own equipment with school colors. It was a great day for football in the Sigtuna kommun and what could be a great day for recruiting local talent into our sport.
It is official now that Jermaine Smith will be joining the Jets on July 20th. He has taken a leave of absence from his job in the states and will be a welcomed face when he lands at Arlanda to help out the team after the break.
