Notes from Jets vs. Flames
The Jets were able to play a good game versus the Sundsvall Flames last Saturday. Probably the most improvement the offense has made is spreading the ball around to different players. That is something we have been trying to do while transitioning into a more traditional offense. On defense we have continued to play well and force a turnover or two. All in all it was a good day that saw everybody that suited up able to get in the game and get some playing time.
Preview of Arlanda Jets vs. Stockholm Mean Machines
This week the Jets will play the defending national champion Stockholm Mean Machines. SMM appears to be off and rolling to their next SM-Guld. They have a very well balanced team and probably the best depth chart in the country.
Offensively, we must continue to spread the ball around and make some big plays. It will take patience on our part and we cannot afford turnovers and penalties. Stockholm has a very good overall defense without any real weak points. When you play an opponent like that, you have to continue to search with plays, schemes and routes until you find something that can get good yardage. In this game I don’t feel that there is a key match up as much as there is the offense versus the defense in a battle that turnovers and penalties can make the difference.
On defense, we have to stop the run and the pass. SMM brings a very good receiving corps to the game balanced by the running of David Jonsson, a player that has really risen to the top in a short period of time. SMM has a very strong and deep offensive line that cannot only protect the QB they have the ability to open gapping holes in the defense. We will play a very aggressive package that Coach Oud has put together and hope to get pressure and turnovers on the SMM scoring machine.
Being the underdog
This will be a game where the Jets will not be favored so that relieves a lot of pressure. When you are the heavy favorite in a game, you have all the pressure to perform. For us, it will not be playing SMM that will test us, it will be playing the best we can against the best competition in the series.
The game will be at 15.00 at Pinbacken. Come and enjoy a good football game.
