Saturday night kicks of the 2007 season for the Arlanda Jets and we will pick up where we finished last season. 2006 ended for us at Zinken against the team that would go on to win the SM-guld. We will be meeting the defending national champion and the team that is favored to win it all again.
On offense we have last years import player of the year back. Tom Marsan will again be the QB for the Jets. On offense we hope to show more formations and motions along with mixing up a run oriented offense with a solid passing game. The offense has some new blood in the O-Line, most noteable is the addition of Fabian Weldeborn and Rasmus Andersson. In the backfield Andreas Fjäll has joined the backfield and is a nice addition to Micke Öhman, Mathias Jangenäs and Christopher Muwanga. The reciever corp is solid and led by Nick Elman and the always dependable Fredrik Arke.
Defensively, we have gone "old school" and brought back the 46 defense that we have played well in the past. We will be very aggressive on D and try to get after people and come from alot of different places. This is a group with a nice mix of old and young, experienced and new to Jets football. The addition of Victor Hillerström and Patrik Johansson from U19 and Mohammed Kadkhodai and Christopher Dessezar from notorious Junior Powerhouse Ekeby Greys will add a spark to a veteran group with Kristoffer Blanck and Andreas Öström.
The key points to Saturdays game will come down to the rule of 3.5. If on offense we can get 3.5 yards on every play, then we should have the opportunity to control the ball and get first downs. That is a very simple philosophy, but the Mean Machine defense will make that a tough job to get done. On defense, we want to be aggressive and try to create turn-overs. Turnover ratio is one of the most important "games within the game" to win. It will be a great challenge and opportunity to meet the defending national champs in the first game. It will be a great measuring stick to see where we are at now and where we need to be by sometime in mid september.
